How aromatherapy can help to ease your mind and achieve inner peace

If there’s anything we all long for it must be inner peace. In today’s society, however, that is easier said than done. With all the responsibilities and obligations we have on a daily basis, we often get caught up in a spiral of non-stop work. Research has shown that in the past year, during the pandemic, women’s wellbeing was hit hardest and 27% of women reported an increase in challenges associated with mental illness. You might have experienced this first hand, feeling more stressed, anxious, depressed and exhausted. Finding inner peace and easing your mind is extremely important to keep functioning properly every day. That’s why we are going to tell you all the ins and outs of aromatherapy and how it can help you to feel more at peace.

What is aromatherapy?

You might be familiar with aromatherapy already, but if you’ve never heard of it before, we’ll give you a quick rundown. Aromatherapy uses essential oils derived from plant extracts to target the limbic system of your brain by using scents. The limbic system is a small part of the brain that deals with memories, emotions and stimulations. By stimulating this part of the brain with scents, you can transition between different emotions and moods. Scentered’s aromatherapy balms and candles are available in six different scents, each targeting a different purpose.

Aromatherapy to help you de-stress and sleep better

If you’re feeling stressed, anxious or you’re struggling to sleep through the night, aromatherapy can help you massively. The SLEEP WELL Aromatherapy Balm is an absolute essential to have on your nightstand as inhaling the scent just before going to bed will help you to drift off into a deep, peaceful sleep. The aromatherapy balm uses Lavender, Chamomile and Palmarosa to create a blend that will relax your body and quiet your mind. When you’re feeling particularly stressed because of your work or personal issues, there is a blend especially formulated for de-stressing your body and mind. The absolute best combination for achieving inner peace, if you ask us.

Ways to practice self-love

How often do you consciously take a break to take really good care of yourself? Let us guess, not that often or definitely not enough. Practicing self-love is so important as it will help you to feel more at peace with yourself and to just be you. Inner peace can only be achieved when you’re completely at peace with yourself. There are numerous ways to practice self-love, but here’s a couple of our favourites.

1. Take a long, warm bath
There’s not much that will help us to relax more than a warm bath. Treat yourself to a couple of bath bombs, face masks and a glass of wine while letting your body and mind relax. You might be tempted to grab your phone and scroll through all social media, but take this moment to be fully present with yourself. You won’t regret it!
2. Meditation
It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but meditation has proven to help with relaxation and wellbeing. With meditation, you are almost forced to fully focus on your body and what you’re feeling. This form of self-love can be practiced on a daily basis and is very easy to incorporate into your daily routine, as meditation can be as long (or short) as you like.
3. Reconnecting emotionally

Aromatherapy can also help you to feel more connected to yourself and others emotionally. The LOVE Aromatherapy Candle can be lit during your bath time to create an extra dimension of self-love. The warm and comforting blend of Rose and Ylang Ylang helps to promote emotional connectivity, which helps to achieve inner peace and will transport you into the perfect mindset.
