Why travel? How to stimulate the soul.

Why travel? How to stimulate the soul.

We’re happy to say summer’s now full swing. Our calendars are filled with vacations to soak up some sun, saltwater and relaxation. But how can you really maximise and appreciate your holiday time? And how can mediation and wellbeing be integrated?

Travel is about more than just a summer vacation or escapism. Travel inspires us and our lives. Adventures help us dream, yearn and stimulate the soul.

“We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again — to slow time down and get taken in and fall in love once more." - Pico Iyer

Meditating while travelling can really enhance our experiences. When we meditate our five senses are stimulated, we’re more aware of not only our physical environment, but ourselves and others. This means if we mediate while travelling it opens you up to be more aware of colours, sounds, tastes as well as being more intuitive to other cultures and people.

It helps if you include meditation as part of your holiday routine, to enrich your experience. We like to exercise, mediate then mindfully savour the taste of a delicious local breakfast. By meditating first thing it helps you clear the mind and start your day fresh. You can set your intention for the day ahead and appreciate where in the world you are at that exact moment.

“And if travel is like love, it is, in the end, mostly because it’s a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end." - Pico Iyer

The true art of travelling is to take the experiences, the dreams, the lessons and integrate them back into your world at home. Then travel is not just a holiday, but a means to enrich our daily lives.

The very concept of Silatha was born on the road, in the monasteries of Vietnam and Myanmar inspired by ancient traditions and cultures. Veroniek our founder was so passionate about her dream, that these experiences finally resulted in her quitting her corporate job and create Silatha.

Our meditation app has been created so you can utilise the guided meditations anywhere, anytime.  Download all your favourite meditations so you can listen to them on the plane, in the desert or at sea. Go offline and truly disconnect on your trip.
